Check out the most complete guide available in English on Spanish Property Law.
As part of an initiative to improve transparency and security for those interested in investing in Spanish real estate, the Spanish land registry, with over a thousand offices , will provide the information it maintains on properties across Spain in English. The new service, which was announced by the Ministry for Development, has been developed in order to allow international investors to overcome the hurdles represented by Spanish legal jargon.
The object of the exercise is to provide the investor with all of the information they would need, in a language they understand, to ensure that the investment is safe and will not be subject to damaging legal repercussions further down the road.
The type of information that is provided is that which would be expected from a land registry and includes, a complete description of the property including the boundaries, the current owner(s) of the property and current charges and mortgages on the property.
