1Who is this Service for?

If you are not an EU citizen, you must apply for a short-term visa if your period of study will be less than 3 months long; for courses with a duration of greater than 3 months you will need to apply for a residency visa and permit.

You will need to have an acceptance letter from the University detailing your course and schedule an interview with your local Portuguese Consulate/Embassy 2-3 months in advance, since it can take some time to get the visa approved.

You will further require proof that you can support yourself financially as well as suitable health insurance cover.

For those who are planning to attend a course of study for a period greater than 3 months, they must arrange their residency permit within 4 months of arrival in Portugal.

2What does this service consist of?

  • An initial discussion with lawyers highly experienced in making successful applications for Student Visas and Study Related Residency Visas
  • Your lawyer will be able to provide you with detailed information on how to make the application via your local Portuguese Consulate/Embassy,
  • Assistance and advice on completing the forms (all in Portuguese only) to ensure the application is approved
  • Assistance upon arrival to obtain the Student Residency Permit
