Artist Visa Spain

This service is available across Spain

Who Is This Service For?

  • This service is specifically for artists, musicians, dancers, or audiovisual technicians seeking an artist visa in Spain
  • If you're planning to work temporarily in Spain for activities such as audiovisual production, theatre performances, or concerts for less than 90 days, you may be exempt from requiring a work visa, under Legislative Order: PCM/1238/2021 (those not requiring a Schengen visa for periods of less than 90 days are exempt).
  • However, if you are going to work in Spain for between 91–180 days, you will need a visa authorising your residency in Spain for the duration of the work contract.
  • The service aims to assist those who do require a visa and provide guidance on the associated legal requirements.
  • Navigating Spanish regulations can be challenging, but we're here to simplify the procedure for those needing a temporary work visa for artists in Spain.

Procedure

The legal process for obtaining a temporary visa for artists in Spain involves the following steps:

  1. Visa applications must be submitted in person by the applicant or, in the case of minors, by one of their parents or a duly accredited representative.
  2. Visa applications are accepted at the Spain Visa Application Centre.
  3. The Consular Office will provide proof of receipt of the application, allowing applicants to track the status of their application online.
  4. If necessary, the Consular Office may request missing documents or additional information, and applicants may be called in for personal interviews.
  5. The legal decision period is typically 10 days, with possible extensions if interviews or additional documents are required.
  6. Once approved, the applicant or their representative must collect the visa within a maximum of one month from the date of the favourable decision.
  7. Visa refusals are communicated in writing, along with the reasons for the decision.
  8. In case of a refusal, applicants have the option to submit an appeal for reconsideration or file an application for judicial review within specified timeframes.
