Who Can Benefit from this Service?

  • This service is designed for expats and non-Italian residents seeking to navigate the intricacies of acquiring Italian citizenship.
  • Whether your path is through marriage, residency, service, descent (jure sanguinis), or birth within Italy, our team is equipped to guide you through the legal landscape, ensuring compliance with Italian laws and regulations governing citizenship applications, notably:
  • Law No. 91 of 5th February 1992: This is the foundational law regulating the acquisition of Italian citizenship, outlining the conditions under which individuals can apply based on marriage, residency, descent, or birth.
Who Can Benefit from this Service?

The process and requirements for applying vary significantly depending on the route taken:

  • By Marriage: As per Article 5 of Law No. 91/1992, a non-Italian spouse must have been legally residing in Italy for 2 years, or 3 years if residing abroad, with these periods halved if children are involved. A €200 application fee, clean legal record, and B1 level Italian language proficiency are mandatory.
  • By Residency: Article 9 of Law No. 91/1992 states that non-EU citizens require 10 years of legal residency in Italy, while EU citizens need just 4. Applicants must demonstrate economic self-sufficiency, tax compliance, a clean criminal record, social-cultural integration, and B1 level Italian language proficiency.
  • By Birth: Children born in Italy to foreign parents can apply through a declaration at their local Municipality within their 19th year, as per the conditions outlined in Articles 1 and 2 of Law No. 91/1992.
