Tourism License Application in Portugal

New registrations for local lodging establishments in the forms of apartments and lodging establishments integrated within an autonomous fraction of a building are suspended as of October 7, 2023, across the mainland and autonomous regions, except for territories in the interior as identified in Portaria n.º 208/2017, of July 13 (Turismo de Portugal).
 

1. Online Registration: The registration is conducted through the Balcão do Empreendedor | Portal do Cidadão (Electronic Single Desk), granting each request a registration number, assuming no opposition from the competent city council within a 10 or 20-day period, depending on the type of accommodation
2. Validity of Registration: The document issued online, containing the registration number, serves as the valid title for public opening and advertising of the establishment. Unauthorized, unregistered, or outdated registrations are not allowed to be offered, made available, or advertised (Turismo de Portugal).
3. Platforms Requirements: Electronic platforms offering, publicizing, or commercializing lodging must require and display the registration number on the platform (Turismo de Portugal).
4. Local Lodging National Register (RNAL): Registered local accommodation establishments can be consulted on the RNAL, including their georeferenced location on SIGTUR.
