NIE Application in Spain

• Anyone who wishes to carry out any one of many transactions in Spain will likely need to obtain a Spanish NIE number. 
• For example, if you wish to rent, buy or inherit a property in Spain will need to arrange an NIE (Número Identidad Extranjero – Foreigner’s Identity Number).

• While the NIE number is the same number as that which appears on a TIE (foreigner's identity card), the NIE is merely a fiscal number, and it should not be confused with a right to residency. For a successful NIE application, individuals must:

• Be non-Spanish nationals planning to conduct specific administrative activities in Spain.
• A completed and signed EX-15 form.
• The 790-012 form completed, signed, and with the fee paid.
• A valid passport or national ID card (for EU citizens) and copies.
• Proof of the reason for the NIE application (e.g., property contract, job offer).
• Passport photos (recommended to bring at least two)
