Potential Issues
As early as 2021, Greek officials were considering applying restrictions to the ambit of the Golden Visa, given pressure on local people's access to property being curtailed by foreign demand.
Accordingly, in July 2023, the Greek Government introduced an increase in the minimum investment threshold for Golden Visas through property investment, such that the new minimum property investment has been increased to €500,000 in the municipalities of Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos and Santorini.
